In March we joined together as a school community in celebration and remembrance of our Founder, Bishop Edward Benson, at our annual Founder’s Day service held at Truro Cathedral. 2024 marks 144 years since our school’s establishment, and this service served as an opportunity to celebrate Truro High School, and the students who make it the dynamic, learning-filled, vibrant institution it is today.
Our guest of honour this year was Melanie Saunders, Chief Education Adviser for High Performance Learning. Melanie has contributed extensively to the design of the World Class Schools Award and has coached school leaders in the UK and around the world to successful accreditation. We are honoured for her to attend our Founder’s Day service and to lead the Address this year, during which she encouraged our girls to think big, be fearless, and not be afraid to make mistakes.
We also enjoyed performances from our talented choirs and musicians, including our String Ensemble, Chamber Choir, as well as a beautiful rendition of Cornwall My Home by the Prep Choir, and a violin solo by Juana, Year 11. We also heard prayers and readings by our Head Girl, Esme, Year 7 Georgina, Year 8 Amelia and Year 12 Marcy.
