This week we were delighted to welcome back alumna, Zulekhá A. Afzal, who visited the school to drop off a copy of her newly published novel, Dancers of the Dawn! Zulekhá joined Truro High School when she was 3 years old, and left in 2010 when she was 18, heading to Bath Spa University to pursue an English with Creative Writing degree. After graduating, she worked in marketing before finding her true passion, publishing, and she now works for a major publisher in Bath, in the Crime and Thriller division.
‘Dancers of the Dawn’ is a young adult fantasy about dancing warriors - a story she was inspired to write after her beloved years of ballet whilst at Truro High! Zulekhá had always wanted to write her own book, and now she hopes that this copy of her first book (with a special message to our girls written inside), will inspire the next generation of Truro High School young writers to follow their dreams too!
