Massive congratulations to alumna Charlotte Andrew who is heading to Cambridge University to study a PhD. Charlotte left Truro High in 2017 and recently graduated from Imperial College London with 1st class honours in Bioengineering. During her course, she conducted extended research on stick insect adhesion during which time she developed her passion for postgraduate research.
Her PhD will place her in the department of Zoology at the University of Cambridge and she has also been awarded the department’s Whitten Scholarship for Aquatic Biology to fund her research. Her study will look at the biomechanics of the sticky fluids found in Pitcher plants and how some insects are incredibly adapted to survive in this fluid. Charlotte is particularly looking forward to her visit to a remote field site in Borneo where an abundance of pitcher plants can be found. We wish her every success!
