We are delighted to share a story of a special (almost 70 year long) friendship which was forged in 1956 at Truro High School.

__________

I'm just in the process of sending an 80th birthday greeting and present to a special friend, Josy Rannou, in Paris, and thought you might be interested.

Josy became my French pen-friend in 1956 when I was a pupil at Truro High  and we have been great friends ever since then.

All of us in Miss Harris' French class ,when we were in the second year, were allocated pen-friends, and did a month-long exchange in the summer.  Josy came to stay with our family in Truro for a month, and then I went to stay with her in Salon de Provence.  We have met very many times since.  Our husbands, too, have become very good friends - as have her children and grand-children.

Josy graduated in English, and spent a year as a French 'assistante' at the Perse school in Cambridge, before teaching in France.  I, too, became a teacher, though History was my subject (Bury Grammar, Lancs; Withington Girls' school, Manchester, Further Education colleges in Warwickshire and Leicestershire, and then Churches' National Adviser in FE based at Church House, Westminster)

All of this, of course, is a very long time ago now (I'm now 81!)

But our friendship is something very precious, and I'm grateful to THS for it!

So......very many thanks!
