This week two of our senior girls attended the Another Way Youth Climate Festival at the Penryn Campus of Falmouth University. The girls first met the founder, Amy Bray last term at our THS Climate Workshop where she inspired them to make climate pledges of their own.
During the day, there were workshops from among others Emma Cunningham MBE, Founder of Motion 4 The Ocean on her work, and how to become an effective campaigner. Professor Martin Seigart, Exeter University's Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Cornwall spoke about his work as a polar scientist, the facts about climate change and why political pledges are not enough, it is government policies that are required if we are to meet climate targets. We also spent some time talking to THS alumnae Amy Fisher who is currently doing some work for Marine Nature Recovery in the Helford area.
The event cullminated with Nancy presenting her group's pledge to the packed audience of over 150 attendees from schools across the county.
