Last week, THS proudly came together to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day - a momentous occasion marking the end of World War II in Europe. The school community embraced the spirit of the 1940s, with a fantastic array of period-inspired outfits and engaging, themed classroom activities.
Staff and students alike took part in commemorative lessons, reflecting on the significance of VE Day and the sacrifices made during the Second World War. The day served as a powerful reminder of resilience, unity, and peace.
A highlight of the week was the VE Day Commemorative Walk, where students and staff joined forces in a school-wide effort to complete 2,180 laps around the school grounds. The goal was to collectively walk 2,076 laps - one for each day between the outbreak of WWII in 1939 and VE Day in 1945. It was heartwarming to see such strong participation, with walkers of all ages showing enthusiasm, determination, and respect for the cause.
We extend a special thank you to everyone who contributed to the walk and to those who made the day such a memorable tribute. Events like these not only honour our past but also bring our school community closer together.
Lest we forget.
