Speech Day 2025

Today, we came together as a community to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our senior girls at our annual Speech Day, held in the beautiful setting of Truro Cathedral.

During the Opening Address, our incoming Head Girl Jemima and our Chair of Governors, Mr Julian Thould, reflected on a phenomenal year in which Truro High School girls have excelled in every area, from the classroom and the sports field to the art studio, the stage, and beyond. They talked about our status as a World Class School and the High Performance Learning framework which is now part of all of our learning.

The Headmistress then welcomed seven of our Year 10 girls to the stage to talk us through the many highlights of the past school year from each faculty.

We were delighted to welcome Dr Martha Vandrei as our guest speaker. Educated on both sides of the Atlantic, Dr Vandrei completed her undergraduate studies at Oxford while abroad, before going on to earn her MA and PhD in Modern History at King’s College London.

The ceremony featured beautiful vocal performances by several Senior School students, including Year 8’s Daisy and Year 10’s Florrie, accompanied on the piano by Year 10’s Isabelle. We also enjoyed a saxophone solo from Year 12’s Isabella, and a fantastic arrangement of Take Me Home, Country Roads performed by our Chamber Choir, which brought the event to a close.

Speech Day was also a poignant opportunity to say our final goodbyes to our wonderful Year 13s, who will soon be heading off to universities across the country. Our outgoing Head Girl, Naomi alongside Deputy Head Girl, Marcella addressed the cathedral with heartfelt words, reflecting on their remarkable journeys at Truro High and describing it as an inspirational, motivational, and unforgettable place.

Congratulations to all our girls and prize winners on their truly exceptional achievements this year!
