Congratulations to Danielle (Year 13) who superbly represented the school, achieving second place in the National Gallery’s Articulation Prize!

The National Gallery’s prestigious public speaking initiative celebrates young people’s engagement with visual culture. She delivered an outstanding ten minute presentation on Caravaggio’s The Taking of Christ (1602) at The Box, Plymouth, speaking with confidence and insight to an audience of artists and academics.

Selected as one of just five candidates across the South West, Danielle was adjudicated by artists Alastair and Fleur Mackie and introduced by Josepha Sanna from The National Gallery. The experience has opened up exciting future opportunities with the Gallery.

‘I had personally worked on my presentation about Caravaggio’s The Taking of Christ for over a year. The experience was wonderful, being surrounded with like-minded people who appreciate the arts, and delivering my speech has developed my public speaking skills. I would recommend this competition to anyone passionate about any kind of art, as it provides the opportunity to share your love of it.’
