Congratulations to alumna Saskia who is branching out by starting her own business alongside completing a degree in Textile Design at Falmouth University. Saskia took a gap year after completing A Levels in Art, Textiles and Business Studies and is now considering a Masters degree in Fine Art when she completes her studies next summer. She said: “Although I was quite apprehensive about university I found the work relatively easy in my first year, I think because I had been taught so well at A level, and having worked so hard! Another advantage of university was being with like minded people who were interested in the same subjects as me. I am now about to start in year three and am looking forward to the higher level of work, although Textiles is an expensive subject to study - printing my own designs onto fabric for my submissions can cost up to £50 a metre!”
Saskia already sells paintings and textiles through a number of local stores and now plans to launch an online business showcasing her sea-glass art work and jeweller
