We were delighted to hear from 2022 Alumna Aine, who has been very busy getting stuck into the world of politics on her Gap Year! After achieving excellent A Level grades last summer, Aine got in touch with the MP for Truro and Falmouth, Cherilyn Mackrory, and began a 3-month internship with her as an assistant. Working in the ‘Cornish Embassy’, she attended parliamentary debates in the House of Commons, wrote press releases and quotations for news outlets and social media, and had the special responsibility for Women’s Health in Cornwall. During her internship, Aine impressed the MP so much that she has now begun a permanent position as a Junior Caseworker. Aine remarked that even though it has been a steep learning curve, she is absolutely loving the buzz of working in Westminster every day! In September 2023, Aine will be heading to Kings College, London, to take up her unconditional place to read Politics, and she hopes to continue her position on a part-time basis alongside her studies.
