Having achieved phenomenal results yesterday, Truro High School Sixth Former Charlotte is having to choose between studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath and an enticing offer from the highly prestigious Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Charlotte joined Truro High in Year 7 and discovered her passion for engineering in the school’s Greenpower Motorsports Club, designing building and racing cars at tracks including Goodwood and Castle Coombe. She helped the team secure the Siemens National Award for Sustainability in Motorsports and has also put her Astronomy learning to good use, writing a white paper linking whale and dolphin strandings around the coast to storms on the surface of the moon.
Yesterday as she picked up top A level results in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, Charlotte said: “I am just so relieved and happy. I am really sad to be leaving, I am going to miss it here so much.”
Her proud parents also praised the school with mum, Sally, saying: “It’s been amazing, always so welcoming, so friendly. It’s a very happy place and the teachers are incredible, they really do go the extra mile. They really took the time to get to know and understand Charlotte, to find out who she was, and that’s exactly what she needed.”
While dad, Doug, added: “It’s a great all-round supportive environment that’s ideal for girls to learn.”
